Hello Rambi,

Re: Confederate Flag

I do not know who to respond to on this issue so I am addressing it to you, you being the editor of this particular paper.. I do not attack, insult or belittle any person, But only the subject.. I only attack the SUBJECT MATTER.

IMO, I equate the Confederate flag with the Swastika.. They both represent some of the darkest days in the last 200
years of OUR history.. the Subjugation and brutal treatment of CERTAIN people based upon??????? subjective and IMO DARK IDEALS....I can not deal with or accept that..

So if a person says, We honor only the tradition.. I guess we have to honor ALL traditions of DARK socitities.. No matter how brutal..but I will not..

Why they fly that Flag.. As the old cliche goes, "It is because of the golden rule.. Those that have the gold makes the rules"

I do not know if this has been covered because I do not read all posts. But I thank you for the space and I just wanted to have my voice heard..

Thank you .. Coug

You mean the article about Daniel Hollis, the last survivor of the Centennial Commission? That included this line:

Hollis said he doesn't recall any racist or political overtones within the commission regarding the hoisting of the flag.

Dr Hollis doesn't support the contention that the flag was raised in defiance of the Civil Rights Bill and/or the school desegregation decision of 1955. The article says:

Hollis remembers the day the Confederate flag was hoisted over the State House to commemorate the war. The centennial kicked off on April 11, 1961, with a re-creation of the firing on Fort Sumter. The flag went up for the opening celebrations.

I told you the flag was raised to commemorate the Centennial of the Civil War, and that insults you. Well, the article Coby posted must insult you, too, because it says the very same thing. Imagine that.
