One of the most staggering things I have ever read was by Carl Sagan.

" The Sun is a star and there are more stars in the universe the size of the Sun than there are grains of sand on all the beaches of the world but he did not stop there - he also said that if we took the fastest Rocket Ship made by man and wanted to visit the nearest grain of sand or the nearest star, it would take 40,000 years and I believe the nearest star was Cirrus". Very limited in my knowledge here but it blew me away.
