What are Sun doing to make sure they get a share of the network appliance market?

I see Intel and Microsoft making investments, acquisitions and partnerships in the areas of cable, WAP, bluetooth, satellite, CDMA, interactive TV, Linux, Transmeta etc. Could it be that Wintel has seen the "demise" of the PC before Sun has?
