<This is a trend that I'm following right now but besides GMST, I'm looking for new players in this field like IATV, WINK... If you know any potential SAM, please share them with us. Thank you.>

I've never posted on this thread before, but I've followed some of the good insights offered by thread regulars, and have been "lurqing" here for some time. (Always a bit difficult to hop in when no one knows your history).

I've been interested in this sector for some time, and feel that it will be one of the big growth areas for 2000. My favorite play in this sector, aside form GMST, is LBRT (Liberate Technologies). The lockup on this IPO ended on Jan. 23, so I think the shares will continue to be under some pressure for another few weeks, but also offer an attractive entry price in the 65-80 area. It's a very interesting way to play the sector, as they offer the OS that will be incorporated in General Instrument set-top boxes. As such, they're in competition with Microsoft's CE platform. The interesting irony here is that Larry Ellison's Oracle owns nearly 50% of the company, and James Barksdale (former Netscape CEO) has over a 3 million share interest.

I might also suggest visiting their website, for a look at an impressive list of partners.

Hope this info helps. Other interesting plays include OPTV, SEAC, LDIG (frequently included by Randel). I'm somewhat leery of TIVO, as I think it may be the Sony Betamax of this sector, and not become the predominantly adopted hardware platform.

Many thanks to all on this thread for an intelligent discussion of candidates for one's portfolio, or good trading plays. A special thanks to Rande, for his intelligent guidance in volatile times.
