Hi Steve
You are right about the small banks. Our local bank was the 1st National Bank which was bought out by I think Colonial Bank. Colonial was then eaten by Valley Bank, which was in turn gobbled up by M&I. We started out many years ago with a few shares in the 1st National which at the end had turned into quite an investment.
I used the the increase in M&I to slowly spin off cash for other investments and controlling risk (kind of AIMing before I knew about AIM)and have waited for the last big bite. I always figured one of the big banks would be the one to buy M&I. So far I have not been able to find NML stock quotes so it may still be privately held. I would like to find another ride like I've had with the banks. Maybe I'll find the idea at our gathering. I'm Looking forward to it as well.
Regards
Scott
