I think you're on the wrong track, chaz. This was never intended to be a "technical investing made easy" thread, and the size of the audience is in no way a measure of its success. We are viable precisely because of the blend of tekies, valuationists, and investing strategists that populate the thread.

Personally, I love to listen to the tekies talk about their areas of specialization. If it's a topic of interest, I'll ask questions, or do research somewhere else until I understand the basic concepts. In the process, I expand my own view of the techno-universe.

Those who aren't willing to invest the time to understand high tech concepts shouldn't invest in high tech.

Chaz,

Since I've contributed to the glazed eyes let me chime in here. I'm guessing that a very small percentage of the people on this thread have an interest today in Fibre Channel. Buck's report may have doubled that number. However, if a few people think this may be Gorilla territory, I'm guessing that many people will want to investigate further.

I am far from being an expert in either Fibre Channel or Gorilla Gaming. My current take is that there are no Gorillas in this sector, but am willing to be convinced otherwise. If I thought this would be an area of great interest (Gorilla Alert) I would have presented my questions in a manner more courteous to the thread. Instead I thought a few quick volleys with an opportunity for others to chime in might lead to a quick No Gorillas Here dismissal and we could return to our regular programming.

My intention was not to be rude to others, nor to drive them away. If this is what I have done I apologize. I would appreciate further guidance on balancing the minimization of thread bloat against the desire to de-mumbo-jumboize (anybody object to neologisms?<g>)

Greg

P.S. Dr. Id: My favorite quote on this subject is from Mrs. Einstein. When asked if she understood her husband's lectures, she replied "I understand the words but not the sentences."

If, in the mumbo-jumbo, they can't apply the rules...what good is the thread doing for them. We'll lose 'em. They'll go back to investing in something they CAN understand,

Chaz, good point, but we ARE investing in high tech companies who establish their gorillaness through technological innovation. The only way we can learn how/what/who to invest is to discuss or to listen to others discuss technolgy.

What is key to us investors is to see if we can get to conclusions that we can understand. But first we must learn the facts.
