Eric, agreed. What strikes me is that the wireless and dsl camps will find rich media over cable --i.e., during cablemodem's first several good years-- a hard act to follow. They might feel compelled to mimic the look and feel of these capabilities, which for all but the most robust schemes will, likewise, be a very difficult thing for them to do on a sustained basis.

Perhaps for this reason the wireless and dsl folks might be better served NOT "pushing" richness in advertising and other non-elective content, leaving the available bandwidth for users' own discretionary needs. Makes sense? Come to think of it, this strategy might also make more sense for the cablemodem camp, too. But then, you wouldn't get the rush kick needed to spark the Metcalfian acceleration I spoke about, which is needed to boost the subscriber roles. I can see where it's going to be a tricky balancing act. Frank
