I didn't twist anything. The flag haters have been claiming it was raised to oppose civil rights, or to defy the school desegregation decision. But here is Hollis, no fan of the flag, saying that politics and racial animosity didn't have anything to do with it. It was part of the Civil War Centennial. Of course that won't make any difference to the haters, they'll continue to insist that any display of the flag is equal to the Klan, Nazism, genocide, mass-murder. The standard speech of America's Morally Enlightened and Politically Pure in the Age of Clinton.
