<<In looking at the performance of DELL this quarter, I have to say that I am very critical of management's tardiness in alerting its shareholders to the issues facing the company. We should not have to get information about how the company is doing from analysts. It is creating two classes of investors one with inside knowledge and the others with no knowledge of what the company is actually doing.>>

Hmmm..interesting points..Jim: I am getting my relatives to consider cutting way back on their positions in AOL, DELL and ATHM. ALL of these stocks are not perceived well right now and there are many other prospects that I like much better. They still have large positions in CMGI, CSCO, INTC, INTU, ORCL and SEBL. These firms all had GREAT years in 1999 and have a lot of momentum going into 2000. Yet, there are also other stocks like CREE and NTAP that hold a great deal of promise, IMHO. My relatives are LTB&H investors BUT there is no sense in waiting additional quarters for the perception of AOL, DELL or ATHM to change. They are all great companies but I AM NOT in love with their stocks. I am not as patient as my relatives BUT I am getting them to slowly re-consider their investing styles. Sometimes tough decisions have to be made.

Oh well, Better days for DELL may be out there on the horizon...;-)

Regards,

Scott

Jim- MD and TM need to give the performance of their lives in the CC..."same old, same old" is just not exciting the Street anymore.....perhaps some different language to describe future growth ops...something........(again) I am hoping that they were smart enough to guide the Street to .16, when the real result is going to be .17....believe it or not, I think that even a .01 "beating" of a lowered estimate will help (in a small way) to show that Dell is back on track......change the momentum....."Dells beat the Street".........in my mind, .16 would be (just another indication, a small one) that Dell is not catching on here....

I am, of course, talking about getting the stock going now, vs. 3 months from now....for, with current consensus estimates at .17...well, if Dell can't make those look silly....then it would no longer the growth giant we all think is...

I do expect Dell will make that .17 silly...after all, that is (only) a y-o-y EPS % increase of 6.25%...talk about lowering the bar!

Carly Fionoria (sp?)... of HP has done a great job of selling the sizzle, without having to show the results yet...of course, at some point, she will also have to show the results...but Dell needs to find a way to get similiar faith back in the stock...
