Perhaps a point that is getting obscured here is my call for Compartmentation. I saw folks requesting a respect for, glorification even maybe, of warriors. I'm OK with that. Because I see no dilemma or contradiction in hating war and loving the warrior. "Thanks, Gun Guy. You took it on the chin so I didn't have to."
...That sort of thing.

>Isn't there, though, a problem - in so many of us acting as if we were Ultimate?<
Yeah, there is. Improper valuation of resources. Thinking a tract of homes is worth more than the wetland that was drained for it. Building a proper valuation model is supremely difficult - neither the Sierra Club nor the Chamber of Commerce is doing a good job.
But I see a growing movement to consider that we are temporal creatures in a finite ecosphere - real soul searching as how to balance Progress with Sustainability. In my indole-dazzled opinion this is a temporary stricture - once we haul our collective toches into solar space, the resource and cleanliness issues will simply disappear. The blue planet can be reformed into a big wilderness park.

Our prime mission is to make sure that Earth will not be a division of the Disney Corporation.
