I think there are several interrelated key questions, none of which has been answered so far.

1. Was the unnamed witness who claimed to have seen Suzanne on College Street at about 9:30 telling the truth? That is: she may have been reporting what she later came to believe she saw, but did she really see it? Her detailed descriptions of the men in front of and behind Suzanne strike me as being highly suspicious. Nobody remembers that stuff.

2. If the unnamed witness actually did see Suzanne in College Street, why had S left the campus? Where was she going?

3. In that case, did Suzanne have a prior appointment with someone? She told Peter Stein that she was tired and just wanted to sleep. She'd left her wallet at home. She'd already eaten dinner at the pizza party. I see no reason why she'd have left campus impulsively.

4. Obviously: if she had an appointment, when was it made, and with whom? Before she left for the pizza party, or during the half hour or so she was in her apartment before setting off to return the keys?

5. If she was in fact NOT seen in College Street by the unnamed witness, then it's logical to assume that she returned home by the quickest route after dropping off the keys: by walking back across campus. If that's what she did, then she was accosted en route, perhaps by someone she knew, or was met outside her apartment.

Still no answer to this, Jeff: you said that one needs Yale ID to pass throught the various campus gates. But you also said that Phelps Gate closes only after 11:00 p.m. Does this mean that anyone could get on campus until that time?

<<I think we should go back to induction. What does the evidence say? Serial killers or robbers actually rarely get that bloody. It was rage opportunity crime. Unfortunately that points to a lover or would be lover.

Lots of evidence there. They are too cold for all that, although they do work rage up as an MO.>>

Let me add here "wannabe lover"

Additionally, his is exactly why I have not been able to concur with Jeff's "random" theory and it is probably "why" the NHP continue to keep Jim on the list even with little evidence.

It is also "why" I keep wanting to know more about "who" was at the pizza party etc.

I also agree with your earlier statement that it is very possible that the killer does not recall performing the "action" itself.

Some drugs, such as Prozac, are known to create temporary acts of violence in those that use it with little to no impetus known for the action and no recall of the action after it was done.

Also agree, forget the lie detector test.
