Exactly!

Like the uniform question - I used to love wearing the Boy Scout uniform - knowing that in my backpack was beer, cigarettes, and playboy.

Trivia time for our house chemist.

We had been having a heavy philosophical discussion about the possible methods of cleaning silver on the Feelies thread, Lather, and Christopher Hodgkin came up with a solution that actually, really does work! (I know because I tried it with what I thought were hopelelssly uncleanable/unshinable old pieces.)

Christopher said he didn't know (or care)why this method works, adding, "Some chemist can explain why it works."

Well, Mr. Chemist, can you explain it? Please? (It's not enough for me to know something works -- I also want to know why!) A hint: the water really stinks when you are soaking the silver pieces!
