Nothing really wrong with Hasbro...it's just that I think Mattel has the powerhouse brand name and it's at an 8-year low.

The problems with the software division are easily fixable.

Interesting side note:

MAT got screwed because they acquired TLC (The Learning Company). I knew a long time ago that TLC was a complete scam. They grew through acquisition, but the stuff they bought was complete shit (companies such as Mindscape and Broderbund). I was considering shorting TLC...lucky I didn't becuase they found the last bagholder...Mattell, and ultimately the Mattel shareholders.

The correct play in retrospect was to short MAT after the TLC buyout. Jill Barad really had no way of knowing what was in store for her with this company. Broderbund was playing channel stuffing games, and Mindscape was simply a complete fraud (a holdover from the days when it was known as Software Toolworks). The losses bubbled to the surface a few quarters later and wham!

Know that gthe whole thing has unwound and MAT has been downgraded into the dirt...it's time to buy!
