When you still have kids to put in college, and places you haven't seen, a million is just not enough. If I were a single guy, or even my wife and myself, I think we could do as we please, now a million just releves the stress a bit.

I once watched a documentary on a community of very rich people. They lived in an extremely ritzy community on the Southern US Atlantic coast.
All they seemed to do all the time was attend each others fund raisers for different charities. Each had their own favorite charity that they would hold a function for. They would literally hand over checks for millions to each other.
When the main character was asked: "Why do you do this charity 'work'"? He answered: "It gives us a reason to live."
