IKE: re: VOD, yes, the indexers must see the opportunity to pounce; hope they don't get caught in the door, rushing in all at the same time<gggg>. Picked up some more common, as I read that VOD will spin off Orange(was owned by Mannessman) to VOD shareholders.

The Japanese(NTT) and some Euro Telecom operators have shown strong interest in bidding for Orange, so VOD shareholders will get a nice perk following the Mannessman merger. Let's hope for a bidding war!

On another Euro stock, that IMHO has been unreasonably beaten down, along with the other pharma stocks, Elan Pharm(ELN) just announced earnings yesterday, with substantial growth, and a very strong pipeline. Technically, it broke out of a downtrend and printed a triple top breakout, in recent trading(Point and Figure charting).
May be worth a look; up today on CEO Geaney's presentation at ML pharma meeting in NYC AM.
Regards,
James

Good Evening IKE: re: VOD/arbitrage; still looking for an opportunity to take calls, maybe even leaps on VOD, as stock has been very volatile lately. Here are some takes on the short term:

Message 12821486

Message 12824868

Even in the market selloff Wednesday, VOD held above important near-term support at 52. What think you of the impact of arb plays until the new close of deal date of 2/17/2000?

P.S.: did you get a chance to look at ELN? Up 20% in past two days; up today on 7MM shares.
Regards,
James
Edit: liked your post with the comment on Nokia and CDMA phones..,"All it will take is a call to Qualcomm..."; music to my ears, long on Q.
