Dan...it may be a little too early to sell on leakage of earnings shortfall...I'm not sure that's the reason...the arb bit with tvguide sounds more like the culprit.....but I agree with you..when we don't have a clear understanding as to why a stock is dropping out of sync with the market..it, more likely than not, is due to earnings somehow..this is pretty standard leakage..perhaps a bit too early tho

Well, Daniel, we watched QCOM drop on pre-release last year. What a disaster that was. I have seen CSCO do that a time or two as well. Obviously the market did not like it. Pardon my sarcasm, but...

If you understand the GMST story, then you understand what the market may not understand, but eventually will. Why are you giving up your advantage?

You gotta call 'em like you see 'em, but I don't see what you see at all. I see GMST being discovered by the market this year and reaping big rewards.

Good luck.

Daniel, I have several friends and relatives who have gotten itchy about holding Gemstar (and Qualcomm) through the doldrums they have experienced ytd. While I would not part with a share of either based on my understanding of their fundamentals, I recognize that tolerance to volatility is an important factor in selecting stocks for a ltb&h strategy. Best of luck to you in finding another investment with the long term potential of the Gem.
