So, if your local power plant explodes, and your plant can't manufacture widgets as a result (from an indefinite loss of power), then you would argue that it is your fault, and not the fault of the utility?

I see your point, and agree to an extent. The question is, where do you draw the line of fault? Are you saying that ultimately it is always the fault of the manufacturer of the final product?
