It was expected in 1999, but
the GRAS committee requested
another study. Even though
the request was for a benign
study, it takes time.

Additionally, BINC is not
running the show, relative to
declaring GRAS, MD Foods is.

GRAS could be declared now it
just would not have the unanimous
blessings of the GRAS committee.

That is the single reason BINC
isn't already much higher.

One thing to remember is that
tagatose can already be sold
worldwide, excluding the U.S.,
but MDFI wants this market first,
knowing all the others will follow.

Remember, Wrigleys already has the
patent for gum made from tagatose. <gg>
