Lets talk about this little known bio-tech company with great potential. Who is Biospherics Inc. (Binc)? The biotech company out of Beltsville MD that invented and patented Tagatose as a commercially viable sweetener. They have patents on its use as a sweetener, on the production process to mass-produce it, and on its use as a therapeutic agent for diabetes and hyperglycemia. They have been working on Tagatose research for FDA approval, diabetes, etc, as well as finding a suitable partner to bring it to market, since the late 1980?s. All was in place to license Tagatose in 1995 when they did in fact find an ideal candidate to mass produce and market Tagatose, though not all the research was finished to complete the FDA approval process at that time. The final agreement with the licensee, MDFI, was signed in 1996, as the FDA-required research for Tagatose continued. Biospherics has been active and successful in many fields since Dr. Gilbert Levin founded it in the 1960?s, though Tagatose by far holds the greatest promise for them. The agreement with MDFI will allow for approximately 30% of all profits from Tagatose sales to be returned to Biospherics. The actual royalties are yet unpublished but are tied to net sales and are thought to be around 9% of those sales. Binc website: biospherics.com | ||||||||||||
