poet...the reference to age was if you were familiar with marty zweig...

marty was a very astute investor, had successful mutual funds, a bit of a technician, wrote many books and newsletters...this was in the seventies, when making a buck in a market that did 12m shares a day total was not so easy.

zweig did not believe in market timing, and was a proponent of not fighting the tape or trends...in essence to short issues because of a top heavy market can be risky...shorting used to be a strategy to follow down a stock with failing fundamentals. the market basket of qqq, heavily weighted in about 5 super momos is not the best short...

how does shorting issues protect your investments? wouldn't covered calls or put purchases on your portfolio be less risky?

if i thought the market was going to turn from bull to bear my hedge would be to go to cash.....i don't think we are at that point...

why would it take weeks to retrace 10-20% in the naz? the volatility that we have recently seen would preclude weeks of all naz stocks selling off....

markets are quite contrary, they never do what the masses expect them to.....remember mark peterson counter intuitive posts...
