*RE How are you certain? [that Cree does not yet have a commercial solid state blue laser.]Simple. Go to their web site and look at what they sell.*

You said that NOBODY has one . . . how are you certain?

Anyway, companies do not always post everything on their site. I guess I was hoping that you actually spoke with someone at CREE and really knew for sure.

*This is primarily from my reading in EE Times, some in Science and Science News, and some on the web. Nakamura (formerly at Nichia) is generally credited with being years ahead of anyone else in producing room-temperature solid-state blue lasers.*

So you are relying on other peoples writing/articles (journalists generally know less than most - they just regurgitate a whole lot of what they have been told)? To make such bold statements I would have thought you may have checked it out personally.

*For example, read back on this thread and find the quote I posted about someone from Nachia wowing the audience with a blue laser pointer.*

A light pointer is a whole lot different than a DVD blue laser.
