My understanding is that MP3 still isn't the same quality as CD quality.
To the human ear, the difference is indistinguishable...

May I comment here? I have been an audiophile...Have had an esoteric stereo. When they came out with CD it was airy sounding and harsh. It lacks the fullness that was present in the best direct disc/master albums. They have done allot to improve it with multiplying the samples from the disc. But it still can be improved upon and has a long way to go to accomplish what it could. Now we have lower quality in MP3 and expected to accept it? Allot of people will never know what they are missing until they attend a high end stereo show...It can knock your socks off! Perhaps MP3 will be ok for the masses...I know they are happy with allot of junk out there that makes me cringe.

BTW: Only the US makes the very best high end audio...Just like it does the best in all High Tech.
