IMHO, it depends on the time horizon, according to Dataquest [via Gartner, but I can't cut & paste the link, since it is subscription based :(,] ASP world wide [broken down by N America, Europe and Others] revenues would go from $889MM in 1998 [the report was dated 14 Jan, 2000] to $22.73B in 2003. Incidentally, this is not an optimisted report, since the title is

telecomguy, My guess is that NT is looking at providing value added services for the service provider market (service management or other intelligence). This would allow NT's customers to migrate towards a useage based pricing model. By moving the network intelligence away from the enterprise routers and onto the edge, service providers can provide additional pay-for services. all a guess.
