RE- Internet Denial of Service Attack many scores of "zombie" machines

This attack appeared to be setup for the last month or so. Our cable company has issued alerts about a virus sent to cable modems, only i'ts not a typical virus. When activated I think it is causing hundreds of relatively innocent machines to send out the packet requests. It's harder to block because of the multiple sources.
