"...a woodchuck is indigenous to North America..."

I know, tcd... that's what creeped me out. I want to avoid the old moosehead-in-bed scenario, so let's not dwell on unannounced models.

It's good to see some Nokia DSL action in Asia. Still not sure what the potential in North America is, the Baby Bells seem to be missing their DSL sales targets. Cable could be the kingpin there. But European and Asian markets seem to be more receptive to DSL.

A potentially bigger angle is this LAN thing that might finally creep towards commercial success. This week's deals with SoftNet in North America and KPN in Netherlands are good beach heads. Former is high-speed local area wireless access to public areas like airports; the latter is the same thing for domestic use. It's easy to see the attraction of wireless internet access in both public hotspots like hotels and ordinary homes.

Here's where Nokia starts competing outside the mobile phone home turf and takes on internet/PC companies like Cisco, Dell and Microsoft. Wireless internet access is totally up-for-grabs right now, so the winners there might come from either the wireless or the internet side of the equation.
