depending on the dynamic, you can sometimes make a sizable profit with a far out expiration on a short term trade.

e.g. mid december sold cmgi 01200 for 70, with stock at 163.
cmgi split, so the new 100 is at 20 with the common at 117.

so in two months (presplit) common goes 163 to 234 = +71
option from 70 to 40 =-30

close now and i've achieved a 7.5% monthly return, in line with a shorter term expiration position. i've captured over 40% of the premium in two months.

I bought September JDSU calls as well, recently. I also have March calls, ITM. And sold March and June puts.
