You are right about their rejection of Bush. Some have commented to me that it seemed he didn't want it all that much.

I agree with Neo that Kemp would have disappointed as president. I'll never forget Gore beating the daylights out of him in that debate.

Let me ask you: if the Commerce Department had come out with the revised numbers showing that the recession was over in October before election day, instead of a couple of months after, do you think the results would have been the same? On that one thing, whether or not deliberate on the part of the bureaucrats, probably hinged the election, and certainly hinged the magnitude of defeat, if defeat there had been. Bad luck or treachery, it was merely contingent.....
