Well of course I'm putting my case! You provide the potential, I'll point out the risks, then we have a balanced thread.

The post you responded to was relevant because of Cap Gemini's stated objective of going after the enterprise/ecommerce/database market, and they are and have been writing highly resilient, highly scalable software to support that objective. They are also training people to service that market. This is Sun's market.

I agree with you on Dell, and on why Sun has been successful. Sun is highly differentiated whilst Dell sells a commodity. I am saying that Sun is becoming less differentiated due to the lower end competition moving up. And you can see from Dell's experience what happens next.

If he really intended to short it, I would have thought he'd want as high a price as possible. So it seems to me there must be a deeper motivation.
