Perhaps, something that plugs into the top of your Delco battery and you open the hood and pick up the battery and handheld unit and carry them in. I can see the headlines now - "GM provides handheld unit with one-year battery life." Or perhaps it will be like my CD player and changer where I have to open the trunk to insert a disk. I have a friend who took a buy-out from IBM about 1994 where he was a technology scout (did the technical lead on acquisitions). He told me of briefing IBM Chairman John Ackers, about 1991 or so, and was asked by Ackers to explain what a CDROM did. I mention this because top GM execs could be personally clueless in the same manner as Janet Reno, who admitted at the time when the Microsoft suit was reopened that she had some difficulty using email. I might add that this friend has had dinner with Gates and Jobs, has met with Steve Case, and knew some of GMGC's founders from their Apple days. From 1995 - 1999 this friend was the CTO for a well known software company doing remote home-banking software. He was my associate on an aborted effort to incorporate GMGC's Magic Cap software into my firm's vertical market application. He invested in GMGC in 1995, got burned, and did not follow my emailed advice in July 1999 to give GMGC stock another try at $3. (Lately, his emails have expressed happiness about my success with GMGC stock, but he has not seen the light.) I like Portico, General Magic, AOL, Bell Atlantic, Excite, Sprint. all RBOCs, etc., etc. The GM deal saved GMGC, but it will not make GMGC. If GMGC is to be primarily an OEM to GM, it will be a long but boring story.
