The problem is not federal taking of private land, but the President's designation of federal land as national monuments. With a few exceptions, there is no leasing of mineral and grazing rights in land administered by the NPS, while land administered by other federal agencies (USDA) is commonly accessible to other uses. The President used his "emergency powers" under the 1906 Act to designate these areas.
Someone who knows more about the details and federal land law will have to fill in the details.

If a state really tried to secede, they'd all be shot. If they were somehow allowed to move forward, they wouldn't be able to handle their immigration problem.

Haven't a clue about gold, but apparently it's not the benchmark it used to be.
