Steve;

The new CVD system. Could it be Micron Tech?

Just a thought,
John Stewart

<Brad did say that he spends about 20% of his working time on MandA but this was not clear as to what he meant.>

Steve, I have followed this company closely for the past 3 years, know a couple of people there and have listened to all but 1 or 2 of the past conference calls. I read a lot but I do not post much, and when I do it is mostly in the biotech arena. I believe that what Brad means by the above statement is that they are constantly looking at new technologies of smaller companies, are having ongoing technology and needs discussions even during the down cycles with their end users, and are even looking at collaborative efforts in design with both the end user clientele as well as sometimes with their "closer" competition. All together this represents about a 20% effort. Once a M and A discussion gets started, it usually take at least 6 months but often longer to nail down all of the details.

Nevertheless, I wish I knew why things on the RTP side of the business were not going any better. Any other thoughts on this? How about anybody in the industry that represents the potential end user? Is Mattson's technology different enough to keep people away?

Jim
