Unless your computer comes with network card pre-installed (which I doubt), you have to open boxes and plug network cards into slots Cable modems are already available that work with USB ports. No opening the box required. I think the problem with getting self-install going is that @home wants the procedure to have a very high likelyhood of working. They don't want a "try it" mentality where you do the truck roll only if it doesnt work. I think thats a mistake. Eric
