Yes, I am suggesting that I as an option holder will either get the PALM shares or the option strike price or quantity will be adjusted to reflect PALM value. This isn't even a concern until the distribution date has been determined about six months after the IPO. If the IPO is Feb 28 and PALM goes to 100 before the distribution you can always exercise early and ensure the delivery of PALM shares instead of the equivalent dollar value.

Are you suggesting that if you sell a covered call on 100 shares and the stock splits 2 for 1 before expiration that you only have to deliver 100 shares at expiration?

Alan, once someone wrote a covered call on coms, he'll lose the right to both coms and Palm unless the calls are not excercised by expiry date. Let's say by August (assume) the Palm shares are distributed, the coms option holders will get the 1.5 Palm options as well if the expiry date is beyond August.
