Regarding Snap Track and your comment... "Is it reasonable to expect a $2 premium per handset? According to Trimble (which has taken a hit since the acquisition on fears of becoming QCOM's lunch), handset mfr's only want to spend a dime or so for GPS capability, and Trimble is "way ahead"."

Perhaps there may be several ways to implement the Snaptrack technology - Trimble is trying to add a component to the phone, while qcom is reducing components within the phone. This is just a hunch, but qcom should be able to put the snap trac technology on their MSM and BSM ASICS and thus sell Snaptrack as a "service" to operators. The phone companies won't be in the decision making process here.

Analysts are doubting qcom's ability to get $2 per handset for this position location product, I say they can get $1 to $2 per month as a service to the operators and let the operators sell it for $9 per month to the public. FWIW.
Thanks
