Don, I think the closest military ties to the Clinton's may have been that lying bastard who was buried in Arlington National Cemetary and then exumed after the lie was exposed about his service record. Mike ho ho ho

Kind of a disgusting situation. That Blue Angles pilot really got screwed.

Oh, BTW, I wouldn't exactly highlight as unusual McCain's entrance into the Naval Academy as due to "political connections", which nearly all entrants are anyway. With Admirals for grandfather and father, and his father being CINCPAC, there was a slot reserved for him the day he was born and found to have all his parts in place. -g-

Don, There is no off topic here. Some of this piece I agree with. It is kind of sad when nobody in the branch that sends boys off to war have ever been yelled at for having sideburns that grew a nanometer below mid ear level. <g> They used to measure ours during inspections.

Marines are extremists and thank God for that. Middle of the road types don't get flags raised on Iwo Jima.

Anyway, it is nothing new to have scandals in the military or poor students from the academies running for President. US Grant was one of the worst students at West Point. and, of course, ol' US was one of the scandal guys, too. In fact, only two Prez's have graduated in the top 10% of their classes: Jimmy Carter was one and I forget the other. That sure doesn't seem to correlate with success in the Presidency. Truth be told, I was not a world beater as a soldier, either. Something about "refusing to get with the program." <g>

If soldiers can't rape and pillage, what good is the job? <g>
