Cheryl -
re: This is rubbish for the 24x7 e-commerce site who wants full RAS capability not so many useless excuses from the vendor.

Steve's point is that if you constrain NT configurations similar to Solaris, you get RAS similar to Solaris - and all of the data supports that. It is not only possible to do internet solutions reliably with NT, a majority of users are doing so... and the changes to the two biggest contributors to "pilot error" will make it less likely that those users will experience reliability problems.

You are on the wrong track if you think that reliability is a big Solaris advantage - it's not. The advantage that Solaris has is manageability, and in that arena there is no comparison, NT remains a challange to administer in very large configurations.

Cheryl, If you drive your car on the wrong side of the painted line, it is not the manufacturer's fault when you have a head-on.

If you abuse your systems, it is not the vendor's fault. Properly maintained NT systems in big business are not particularly problematic compared to other systems, Sun's included. This is a real world observation.
