Even if AMD managed to get an SMP product to market, I'm not sure who would produce systems with it, and who would buy it - likewise a 64 bit offering. When I look at the broad involvement in the industry that Intel undertakes to enable their technology, and the advantages that OEMs and ISVs have in developing for that base, I don't see a big market hole that is crying out to be filled by AMD SMP technology.

My point was simply that the EV6 bus was developed for Alpha 4-way machines and is obviously a very capable high performance SMP bus architecture - those are pretty fast machines. It is not any limitation of EV6 which is holding back AMD in the SMP space...
