JC - Well SOMEBODY is buying this crap!! I was referring specifically to starfire. There was an error in the design of some subsystem components which caused major headaches for UE10000 and UE6500 customers and resulted in some ugly downtime numbers last year. The problem lasted longer than it should have - it took several months to resolve and get the systems fixed... there's no way to tell how that might have affected sales, but it couldn't have been positive.Did you know that Sun is now the #1 (number one) server vendor? Nobody is replacing Mainframe VMS systems faster than Sun, apparently. JC, CPQ's server revenues are greater than SUNW's revenue from ALL sources - head to head on servers, CPQ does about twice the revenue. You must mean #1 UNIX server vendor, a position SUNW has held for a while... BTW, VMS sales are actually growing, but share is of course small and falling. So although that base is gradually being eroded, it's not happening rapidly... I keep expecting that market to dry up and go away but like the IBM S390 market, or the energizer bunny, it keeps going and going... Have not read "Unix Philosophy" but I will get a copy and read it... Finally, Solaris on the Ultra is far and away my favorite web browsing machine. I occasionally use a laptop NT machine running IE (as I am now) but I don't like it much - I think I have said that I'm not in love with the Office suite. Have not done much browsing with Linux but that is probably personal preference... By the way has anyone tried the Sunpci thing that runs windows programs on an Ultra? I have used the Citrix Metaframe client to run NT programs on Solaris, which works pretty well (they really run on an NT server but from a client perspective it looks like a regular window).
