HP also had the exact same problems with the exact same component, a fiber controller. Just as IBM is experiencing problems with their high end storage arrays called 'shark.' Sunw doubled the capacity of the UE10000 manufacturing at about this time if that indicates anything to you. Schwab has had major problems with their IBM mainframe setup. That is why SUNW has it's major push called 'SunTone.' I love the sound of that.

By the way, at the earnings CC Zander made the point that NT is unix, just 'unix 85.' Of course it's just VMS that is why it's called WNT. After V comes W, after M is N and finally T follows S. Interesting, HUH?

You must mean #1 UNIX server vendor, a position SUNW has held for a while...

No. It's a new stat (I caught from the last SUNW concall). It may have been '#1 in the server room'. It went beyond #1 UNIX to eclipse IBM and the like. I'll have to look into it more deeply.

Have not read "Unix Philosophy" but I will get a copy and read it...

Excellent. You'll enjoy it. Let me know when you're on the other side of it. I'd like to discuss it. I don't know anywhere near as much about branding as Ed Zander, but I don't understand it when he talks about 'Solaris' not being or being beyond 'UNIX'. I don't understand why he wants to brand 'Solaris' away from Unix. 'Java' and n-tier I can understand, but not Solaris.
