Captain Jack, Your comments are not, imo, particularly relevant today in as much as dow went down big time and tech generally crappy. Not really possible to reach any conclusion about cpq today. If your comments of today were made on a day when the dow went up 100 + points and every other computer oem went up also, then yes your comment is on point. Today is not the day. Try again tomorrow - you're likely to be right on.

I went away, then lurked, and am now back again with a new perspective on CPQ. I saw Capellas on NBR several weeks ago and judging by the market's reaction since then, he just doesn't cut it. Why can't Capellas find and appoint a new CFO? This looks highly suspicious to me, not to mention others who are a whole lot more "clueful" than the likes of me. I was thinking that three times may prove to be the charm for CPQ: they will do what ATT did when they got rid of former CEO Allen - who clearly wasn't up to the task - and then struck it rich with Michael Armstrong. In his NBR interview, Capellas struck me as nervous, a poor communicator, not "together" and lacking the requisite poise to be a charismatic and successful CEO leading a multi-billion dollar corporation. It's sad, because right now the whole of CPQ is definitely worth a lot LESS than the sum of its parts. While I'm glad I managed to escape with my dignity intact, this won't stop me from buying some more CPQ LEAPs when a figurehead who's "golden" and can unlock all the company's value is selected to replace MC.
