I have admired your posts since I have begun following JDSU. (I also think JDS is ready for the S&P 500. I think it will go in after the stock split because they'll want as many shares as possible for the index buyers.)

I read the news release this morning. The rise to 204 made sense in relation to this. But, I don't see how this explains 204-217 between 12:45 and 2:45.

Maybe the institutional buyers did the research on the effects of the new products in the morning and came back from lunch ready to purchase--and then there was a short-squeeze.
