Ted, I am biased as you know and I would assume it was running at a slower speed. Even if it was running at 800MHz I don't think that cheapens the significance of the confidence they showed by running it for 2 hours. I don't think its cheapens the significance but it puts into question whether Willamette is a 1500 G chip, a specification which Intel certainly wants the world to believe is true. In addition there were 3 1 GHz system demonstrations from DELL, HP, and IBM running what I believe were air cooled standard production process CuMines. Contrast that with AMD's quick demo of a MHz meter hosted by Compaq, HP, Gateway, IBM... oh wait a minute... nobody was there showing systems were they? Never mind. AMD has never done this with production material. Furthermore Intel stated they are in production NOW with 1 GHz CuMines and are shipping limited quantities to customers NOW. I was not talking about Cumine at all and frankly, I don't care. Lately a demo of a Cumine chip by Intel does not assure a level of production that satisfies its customers.....bottomline that sucks. In spite of the fact AMD did not use production material, I am more confident of the Athlon's performance at 1 G than the Cumine at 1 G and AMD's ability to produce in quantity. And not because I am long AMD but rather because Intel has lost all credibility with me when it comes to the Cumine. In fact it looks like that Intel may be using the same kind of veiling with the Willamette that they used with the Cumine. And if that proves to be true, I will be as disappointed with the Willamette (and Intel) as Scumbria appears to be. ted
