Tony, I have no idea how well the 870 systems will scale, but I assume they'll scale very well. You definitely won't get 2x the performance increase going from 8-way to 16-way because of the overhead, but the hope is that it'll be close. (Maybe 1.7x?) But what is known is that 16-way systems should be much cheaper to build than before. Before, anything above 4-way was considered to be "massive big iron." Then with Profusion, the boundary was moved to 8-way. With 870, perhaps the boundary will be moved up even further when OEMs enable their 16-way and above systems?
