"why" is an interesting question. it could be applied to hundreds of story stocks with negative book value, and miniscule odds of ever turning a profit. the likes of plug, bldp, lith, efcx in batteries (as well as many more) are matched in every other speculative sector. no prospect for earnings means no fussing with those annoying PE calculations. just buy the story and the chart and close your eyes and hold on for the ride....-g-

any one buying at this stage with more than a two hour trading horizon should just change their name to bagholder IMO

I think it was because at around Christmas, California reemphasised their resolve to ensure that 10 percent of cars sold in the state were zero emmission by 2003. New York state followed with a similar announcement but for 2004 and there was one other state that also made an announcement for 1994. Then PLUG got plugged on MSN Money Central as a potential 10.000% gain and all hell let loose.

A lot of these companies have been involved in research for years but now there are real products out there. It seems that their time has come?
