*It seems technology risk was the topic of the day. Did you see the reaction SAWS had to QCOM's new "product"?*

Yes, I saw the move. This is why I have often stressed that folks should really understand just what makes a company tick (or risk their bucks) . . . for example with the advent of IP, not only is SONET (and later ATM) dying but all optical networks nearly erase whole areas of the optics business namely: Electrical Regenerators (should go from 30% of industry sales today to around 12% over the next two years.) and add/drop multiplexers (the SONET mainstay) . . . not to mention the many other misc. optics products that will no longer be needed.

MY POINT IS THIS:
VARL has a variety of products that not only have been well received, but are leaders in their respective fields.

Optics: Wireless signal to optic signal and back again (set top box last mile applications)
Broadband Wireless: LMDS & MMDS leader
Wireless Infrastructure: BaseStateion VCO leader
Wireless Handsets: I bet we hear something soon.

Another company DOA is MCOM. QCOM's HDR renders MCOM irrelevant. I've warned this for going on three months now.

Again: If you own tech, take the time to figure out why.

While VARL may have been thrown into the components trash heap today, it is not warrented in the least bit. Another chance to pick up shares is all I see . . . :-)
