UPDATE: I have been looking into the cable business of wpo and discovered that Gannet sold their cable business (just closed) at over $5000 a sub. At that price WPO would get over $3.8 billion for the division in a sale. That may have been "yesterdays" prices, however, i.e. an irrational top. <g>

I also traded my LEE for Gannett (GCI) as it came down here in the last week. They're generally considered to be the best operators in the business, and have had a great long term record.

So my three papers are wpo, gci, ecp. ecp is a pure play newspaper. gci, has some tv stations. And wpo is a more diversified media company.
