Sometimes when I go for a real-time quote before the market opens (say for example 8AM EST), I will see volume (18,200 was the number this morning) but no price change? Anyone know what that volume is, is that after market trading from the previous day, pre-opening institutional trading, or is that just an error of some sort?

Regards, JB

That was absolutely beautiful. You nailed all of my thoughts and concerns perfectly.

I love your idea of d**king with these marketing gurus. I'll buy one of your filters for all of my TVs, if I can program it.

My point is that TOO MUCH control strikes me as a technology that is prone to error, susceptible to manipulation, generally useless in an era of highly specialized manufacturers, and it is going to be a sore subject with consumers that conclude it is an invasion of privacy.

Some of us are concerned with issues like privacy, but Joe Six-pack thinks only in terms of how the product is changing his life. If I didn't hate the Tivo business model so much I would sink a large amount of cash into the stock - I have talked with a half-dozen people who have the system and they all say it has changed their life, and nobody has ever brought up the privacy issue. I don't think the average consumer knows and/or cares about it.

Jeff,

The answer is privacy! And the fine line between determining what is "an invasion of privacy" and what is "providing service" is the source of great debate.

This argument didn't hold for the internet. Your DNA is everywhere you go and easily traced. Some will like the PVR concept and some won't. Others will choose a service like WebTV Plus or AOL TV. The majority will feel comfortable with the IPG navigator and it will be central to all the aforementioned services and as a stand alone interface.

Personally, I don't care for the PVR-type products (current stage) but I hope they succeed as they give the IPG advertising space more value.
