NEW DELHI, Feb 18: The Indian army will soon acquire special radars to locate the sort of artillery
units that pounded Indian positions during last year's Kargil conflict, a general said on Friday.

Lieutenant General Madan Bhandari also said the army would intensify training for night-time shooting
in mountainous terrains, the Press Trust of India reported. India lost more than 500 soldiers in the
10-week fighting in May and June last year.

"Post-Kargil, certain lessons were learnt," Bhandari said. "The army for several years has been asking
for weapon locating radars, which locate enemy gun positions.
