Bob,
Both NXL and NHP are likely to be great long term investments. NXL is much safer. It's main risk is the internet shopping kills retail. NHP is probably going to be fine and they obviously feel confident, but they can't control the profits of their tenants. If their tenants suffer enough, the current price will be a selling opportunity. I personally think the strongest healthcare REITs are nearing a bottom, with the 4 or 5 weakest having no low in sight until the tenants start to make money and have their debt in order.
