Vic-- not that it should matter,, but the same was done at COMS and CS. By doing so a hit can be taken when totally wrong, but we all make mistakes. Those that have a problem seem to be holding way to much of any one company are at losses way too deep. Had I taken the path of some on this thread 8 or 9 months ago it would have been possible to get out with a tiny loss. If the author of the URL NW posted here is correct we will be seeing a lot of crying. The person has only stated what many have stated before him. Last month I was at a little get together and Ed Kirshner, the chief investment strategist of Paine Webber said "The last 10 years any one could make money in the mkt even if they did stupid things. Now you are going to have to be a stock picker". Those were not his exact words but in essense he stated you could be stupid in the past and must be selective now,, He also stated some thongs such as inflation will not mean no one makes money in the mkts-- just different companies but the future is still in technology,,

Victor and thread: I had an interesting weekend, spent it at the daytrading expo in New York. This is a twice yearly gig, once in Ontario, California, and then in NYC.

daytradingexpo.com

I can tell you that the place was packed. It seems that I read trading is a young persons game, but most folks I saw appeared to be at or nearing middle age <ggg>. In any event, it was a hardware/data junkie's delight. Large LCD's are in, I saw some very nice multi-monitor setups featuring 18" and even 20" panels. Some folks were running outrageous setups using those large plasma displays that are advertised these days as TVs.... Reason for this post is that Compaq had a large booth at the expo, with loads of NT based workstations running multi-monitor LCDs. Compaq also had a VAR there demonstrating some nifty decision support trading software. I spoke with two Compaq reps, both were knowledgeable concerning the specifics I was asking them (make that testing them) concerning the multi-monitor Matrox video cards in the workstations. HOWEVER, I told the second (very pleasant) fellow I was talking with that I trade Compaq stock and asked if he read SI. Got a blank look at which time I added that SI was an online forum. He then said 'sorry, I'm NOT AN ONLINE KIND OF GUY!!!!' I thanked him and walked away, perhaps he was the one 'Dirty Harry' type at Compaq, that is 'the one constant in an ever changing world' <gggg>

Regards,
John

PS - CNBC probably will provide some coverage if they have not already done so, as Bill Griffeth was the speaker at the trader's dinner...
